Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Cocaine Distribution Scheme

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for plotting to sell cocaine after 9 pounds of the drug was found in a truck he was driving.

Thirty-four-year-old Lamont George Thomas was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Baltimore. He had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

According to his plea agreement, Thomas traveled to New York to get cocaine and bring it back to Baltimore. Prosecutors say in March 2014, Maryland State Police stopped Thomas' truck for speeding. A search turned up 4.2 kilograms of cocaine in an electronically controlled false compartment in the seat back.
