Man Pleads Guilty To Selling Homemade Guns, Marijuana

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Mount Airy man accused of illegally selling homemade rifles and marijuana has pleaded guilty to gun and drug charges.

The Frederick News-Post reports that 25-year-old Daniel Allen Schumaker Jr. pleaded guilty Tuesday to distribution of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and two counts of an unlawful sale of a regulated firearm.

Assistant State's Attorney Jacob Craven had said in a previous court hearing that an undercover officer with the Frederick Police Department bought marijuana from Schumaker. Lt. Clark Pennington says an undercover officer also bought some of the guns he sold.

The prosecution agreed not to prosecute 42 other gun and drug charges as part of the plea deal. Circuit Judge Julie Stevenson Solt agreed to impose no more than eight years of prison time.

Schumaker will be sentenced March 31.
