BALTIMORE (AP) -- A 20-year-old man has pleaded guilty to robbing three Maryland banks and stealing more than $164,000.

Derek Lamar Tompkins of Upper Marlboro entered the plea Tuesday in federal court in Baltimore, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release on Tuesday.

According to his plea agreement, Tompkins robbed banks in Princess Anne, Largo and Owings Mills, between February and August 2014.

Prosecutors say Tompkins robbed BB&T Bank in Princess Anne on Feb. 11; robbed M&T Bank in Largo on May 21 with another man; and, again with another man, robbed First Mariner Bank in Owings Mills on Aug. 18.

Sentencing is set for Feb. 16.
