Man Pleads Guilty In Death of Maryland Police Officer

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- The man accused of causing the crash that killed a Montgomery County police officer pleaded guilty on Wednesday, according to WUSA9.

Police said on December 3, Luis Reluzco had at least six beers and four shots and smoked marijuana before he got behind the wheel of his Honda CRV.

Reluzco later fatally stuck Montgomery County Police Officer Noah Leotta who was outside of his patrol car after pulling over another vehicle.

A witness to the crash said Reluzco never appeared to slow down as he approached Officer Leotta's patrol car.

Reluzco pleaded guilty to charges against him on Wednesday.

A bill named after Leotta was recently passed on the last day of Maryland's legislative session. The bill will require drivers in Maryland to use ignition interlock devices.
