Body Of Missing Swimmer Recovered

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WJZ) -- The body of a 22-year-old missing swimmer was found this afternoon in the Patapsco River.

According to the Maryland DNR Police, the body of Bryan Estuardo Diaz of Landover was found in 4 to 5-feet of water below Bloede Dam in the Patapsco Valley State Park by divers.

"Diaz went swimming in a prohibited area and disappeared from view shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, June 7," police reported. "Attempts to recover his body before nightfall were unsuccessful."

Witnesses said Diaz was swimming near a large rock in the middle of the river when he went missing.

Signs saying "no swimming" mark the entire area.

Diaz is the sixth person to drown near Bloede Dam in the last 10 years and the second swimming fatality this season.
