Man In East Coast Rapes Pleads Guilty To Maryland Crimes

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A Connecticut man serving multiple life sentences for a series of sexual assaults has pleaded guilty to three rapes in Maryland.

Aaron Thomas pleaded guilty Monday to three counts of first-degree rape for crimes that occurred in Prince George's County between 1997 and 2001.

State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said in a news release that Thomas was sentenced to life in prison.

He was sentenced in 2013 to multiple life terms in Virginia for crimes including the abduction and rapes of teenage trick-or-treaters in 2009.

Thomas was dubbed the "East Coast Rapist" for a series of assaults over more than a decade from Rhode Island to Virginia.
