Man Impersonating Police Beats, Robs 61-Year-Old Eastern Shore Woman

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- Police are warning the public after a man impersonating an officer pulled a woman over in Maryland's Eastern Shore, and then beat and robbed her.

Maryland State Police say the woman was driving on U.S. Route 13 in Salisbury when a dark, unmarked car with emergency lights in the dash pulled up behind her just before noon Wednesday. Thinking it was an officer, the woman pulled over.

Police say that's when a man walked up to her window and immediately began assaulting her. He also robbed her.

The 61-year-old woman was taken to a hospital with head, neck and other injuries.

Maryland State Police are reminding drivers that if they're unsure whether they're being pulled over by police, they can drive to a more public place or call 911.
