Man Gets In Fight At Md. Baby Shower, Tries To Return With AR-15

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A man has been arrested after he attempted to carry a loaded AR-15 rifle into a baby shower in Waldorf Saturday, police say.

According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, 21-year-old Rodrigueze Lavon Nowlin, Jr., of North Carolina, was at a recreation center on Nantucket Drive with about 13 other shower guests when he got in an argument with another male guest.

Witnesses say Nowlin left the party, got the gun from his car and was on his way back to the center when guests saw him and locked the doors.

At about 4:11 p.m., a Charles County Sheriff's Officer was flagged down nearby.

Cpl. P. McCue responded and ordered Nowlin to surrender. Officers found 27 rounds in the rifle, which had been reported stolen from North Carolina.

Nowlin was arrested and charged with multiple counts of first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
