Man Gets 60 Years For Killing His Pregnant Wife

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A man who pleaded guilty to strangling his wife and setting the house she was in on fire has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.

Forty-two-year-old Anthony Rutherford of Reisterstown pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and arson in the death of 35-year-old Kendra Rutherford. He was sentenced Wednesday in Baltimore County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say on Dec. 8, 2013, firefighters battling a blaze at a Reisterstown home found Kendra Rutherford dead on the first floor.

Authorities say an autopsy showed Kendra Rutherford, who was three months pregnant, had been strangled before the fire was set.
