Man Gets 30 Years For Raping, Stabbing Woman

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A man who pleaded guilty to raping and stabbing a woman in his apartment has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Thirty-eight-year-old Shane Lee Miller of Glen Burnie was also ordered to register as a sex offender upon release at sentencing Tuesday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say Miller called the woman, who was his counselor, on Dec. 4 and asked her for a ride to a doctor's appointment. The Capital of Annapolis reports that prosecutors say when the woman got to Miller's apartment, he stabbed her in the back with a knife and raped her.

Prosecutors say Miller forced the woman into her car and drove to a grocery. There, authorities say, the woman was able to alert the staff, who called police.
