Man Dead After Falling From Railroad Bridge Into Potomac

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a man is dead after apparently falling through the crossties of a railroad bridge and into the North Branch of the Potomac River near Cumberland.

The Cumberland Times-News reports the man was pulled from the river on Saturday. Cumberland Police Lt. Chuck Ternent said in a statement that an investigation revealed that the man was walking on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad bridge when he fell through.

Ternent said no foul play is suspected and that the victim's family must be notified before his identity is released.
