Man Crashes Taxi Cab After Assaulting Driver, Stealing Car

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A man was hospitalized on Tuesday after Baltimore Police say he assaulted a taxi cab driver, stole his car and then somehow got pinned underneath the vehicle following a crash.

It all happened just before 5:00 p.m. in the 3200 block of Belair Road.

According to police, an officer observed the suspect getting into a physical altercation with a Diamond Taxi driver and then getting into the cab and driving away.

The suspect became pinned underneath the car after police say he lost control of the vehicle during a high-speed escape.

"The vehicle spun 360 degrees and struck the east side curb before coming to rest against a tree," police said in a new release.

The suspect sustained multiple injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The man will be charged once he's released from the hospital.
