Man Charged With Shooting At His Son In Walkersville

WALKERSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- State police say a man has been charged with shooting at his son during an argument on their property in Walkersville.

No one was injured in the shooting. Police say 48-year-old Michael Shoemaker was arguing with his 24-year-old son, Paul Shoemaker, while both were trying to use a fuel pump.

Police say the elder Shoemaker threw a metal pipe at his son. Police say the elder Shoemaker then pulled a handgun and fired a shot at his son as the younger man was running away.

Michael Shoemaker has been charged with first-degree assault and other offense. Police say they recovered a handgun, a rifle and a shotgun.

Shoemaker is being held on bond. No attorney was listed for him in online court records.
