Man Charged With Setting Fire To Playground

COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) -- Howard County Police have arrested a man they say set a fire at a Columbia playground.

The fire at the Huntington Park playground was reported about 5:25 p.m. Tuesday. The blaze caused $40,000 in damage.

Authorities say a detective at the scene saw a man with what appeared to be a black, charred substance on his fingers. Police say the man gave conflicting and suspicious information when questioned and was later arrested.

Eighteen-year-old David Joe McKinney of Jessup was charged with two counts of malicious burning.
