Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Hit-And-Run In Clarksburg

CLARKSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say a man has been charged with murder after a fatal hit-and-run in Clarksburg.

Police said Saturday that 22-year-old Ryan Anthony Salandy of Germantown was charged with murder. Police also identified the victim as 21-year-old William Dean McDaniel of Clarksburg.

Police said McDaniel was struck and killed Friday in the 2300 block of Sweetspire Drive, where he lived.

Police say that about 25 minutes after the crash, a person called 911 and said the car and driver involved in the crash was at a home in Germantown. Police found the car and Salandy there.

Police say Salandy and McDaniel were involved in an altercation before the fatal crash and that Salandy has admitted that he intentionally struck McDaniel. It was not clear if he had an attorney.
