Man Arrested In Fatal Stabbing On D.C.'s H Street Northeast

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Police say they've arrested a 57-year-old man in a fatal stabbing that occurred in the busy H Street corridor of northeast Washington.

District of Columbia police say Hector Felix of northwest Washington was arrested on Friday and charges with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 44-year-old Eric Smith.

The stabbing occurred on Monday afternoon. Smith was stabbed in the back and rushed to a hospital, where he died. He was from Suitland, Maryland.

The H Street corridor has been transformed in recent years as a series of trendy bars and restaurants have opened. It's also home to the city's long-troubled streetcar line, which has yet to open.
