Man Arrested For Allegedly Shooting Fiancé On New Year's Day

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore Police Department has arrested and charged a man for shooting his 44-year-old fiancé.

Kirk Cooper, 45, faces attempted murder, assault and weapons charges for a domestic dispute incidence with his fiancé.

On Thursday, Jan. 1 around 3:30 a.m., Baltimore City police responded to a report of a non-fatal shooting. When police arrived to the scene, the victim told police she was shot by her fiancé, Cooper.

She said the two argued at a New Year's Eve party. When the two went back to the house, she said Cooper started packing his clothes to leave the house and placed his belongings in her car. When she told Cooper not to take her car they began arguing again.

During this argument, she told police Cooper pulled out a silver revolver hand gun and shot her in the right leg. The victim was able to run out the back door and contact police for help.

The victim was treated for the wound.
