Police: Man Arrested On DUI Suspicion In Fatal 3-Car Crash

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — Police say a Maryland man has been arrested on suspicion of DUI in a three-car crash near Washington that killed a woman and hospitalized five people.

Montgomery County police tell news outlets officers were called out to the wreck in Silver Spring early Sunday.

Officer Rick Goodale says two Honda Pilots were initially in a minor collision. He says the driver, 45-year-old My Huong T. Nguyen, and a passenger of one of the SUVs had gotten out and were standing near their SUV when a BMW struck them and the vehicle. Nguyen died at the scene.

The BMW's driver, 29-year-old Ivan William Kadian, was not hurt but a man riding in his car suffered life-threatening injuries. The others' injuries were not life-threatening.

It is unclear if Kadian has a lawyer.
