Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase In Md., W.Va.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland man has been arrested after police say he led them on a 20-mile, high-speed chase in Maryland and West Virginia.

Maryland State Police say troopers pulled over 34-year-old Ronald Oliver on Interstate 70 near Hagerstown Monday night. After a police dog alerted to the scent of drugs, police say Oliver refused to get out of his car and became argumentative.

Troopers pepper-sprayed Oliver, and that's when they say he fled.

Troopers followed Oliver as they say he drove more than 100 mph along Interstate 70 before getting on Interstate 81 toward West Virginia. They say he eventually stopped after crossing the state line, and was arrested by West Virginia State Police.

Oliver was charged with eluding police, speeding and reckless driving. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
