Man Accused In Wife's Fatal Shooting Faced Child Sex Charges

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Court records show that a man accused of fatally shooting his wife had recently been charged with sexually abusing a teenage girl.

The Frederick News-Post reports that 50-year-old Robert Laudick appeared in court with his wife Donna for a bail review hearing Tuesday, one day before the shooting at their Mount Airy home.

Laudick survived an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was in critical condition Friday at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says it has obtained a warrant charging Laudick with first-degree murder.

Laudick has denied the sex-abuse charges. During the court hearing Tuesday, his public defender, Stephanie Pankiewicz, said Donna Laudick was "ready to take him home and try to handle the situation."

Pankiewicz didn't immediately return a call Friday from The Associated Press.
