Man, 48, Fatally Shot in Head in East Baltimore Overnight

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- A 48-year-old man was killed and two other men were injured in a pair of shootings that played out across Baltimore just minutes apart early Wednesday, authorities said.

A report of gunfire in East Baltimore brought officers to the 1500 block of Washington Street about 12:48 a.m. That's where they found a man, identified as Melvin Brown of the 1700 block of Milton Avenue, fatally shot in the head.

Just a couple of minutes later, patrol officers in Southwest Baltimore were called to a hospital after staff reported two men, ages 21 and 22, had just walked in with gunshot wounds, according to police. The 21-year-old had been shot in the shoulder and the 22-year-old had been shot multiple times in the leg.

According to police, the victims had been walking along the 3300 block of Walbrook Avenue when they were confronted by a trio of masked suspects, who robbed them at gunpoint. The victims were shot while fleeing after they had handed over their valuables, police said.
