Loyola Unveils Fresh Food Program In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Loyola University in Baltimore is unveiling a new initiative to stock local corner stores with fresh seasonal produce.

The initiative, called FreshCrate, will allow corner stores along York Road in northeast Baltimore to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from Parkhurst, Loyola's food vendor.

The initiative is aimed to stock stores in a neighborhood that has no supermarkets, and where the smaller corner stores typically don't carry fresh food.
