Local Community Renames Park For Henrietta Lacks

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- East Baltimore is now home to the Henrietta Lacks Educational Park.
Saturday morning, Baltimore City officials -- including Mayor Jack Young -- participated in the re-naming of the park in Johnston Square in Lacks' honor.
Lacks is a Baltimore native and her cells were used for research that's still helping with medical breakthroughs today.
The park is part of a $1.3 million revitalization effort.
