Hundreds Pay Their Respects To Ofc. Amy Caprio At Viewing
PERRY HALL, Md. (WJZ) -- For several hours Thursday, friends, family and even perfect strangers paid their respects to the family of Baltimore County Police Officer Amy Caprio.
Caprio died in the line of duty Monday while responding to a burglary in progress call. Police have charged four teenagers with her death.
Into the night, hundreds lined the streets for a chance to honor Caprio.
The viewing for Caprio was held at Schimunek Funeral Home.

Harford County recruits silently marched in to honor Caprio and there were gestures of solidarity up and down Belair Road for a young officer killed in the line of duty.

Members of the community vowed to be there as a sign of support.

"I'm a better person because I worked with her," field training officer Barry Jordan said.
Jordan trained Caprio and said she was special.
"Always willing to help, cheerful....she was a solid officer. She was always in a good mood," he said.
Caprio was weeks shy of her four-year mark in the Baltimore County Police Department.
As colleagues mourned the young officer's life, they also remembered her legacy.
"She's the person you call for help, she's the person you relied on. She's the person when you hear she's coming to your call, that's who you want there on your call," officer Victoria Hawkins said.
Caprio's future seemed limitless until it abruptly ended.
"I was off and I heard who it was. You don't know what to think in that situation. Pretty disheartening, to put it lightly," officer Nicholas Moore said.
In front of the funeral home were two cruisers draped in bunting.
The department said Caprio was driving vehicle 814 when she responded to her last call.

A funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Mountain Christian Church.
