Legendary Baltimore Broadcaster Tom Marr Dead At 73

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Tom Marr, a veteran broadcaster and talk show host whose career spanned nearly 50 years, died Thursday morning at the age of 73.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, five children and 10 grandchildren, according to a statement from his family.

Marr's passing comes after he suffered a stroke last weekend.

Although he worked at radio and TV stations in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Virginia and did extensive work for CBS Radio covering the Baltimore Orioles, Colts and Bullets, he was most recently a talk show host on WCBM 680.

Sean Casey, Director of Programming & Operations there, called Marr "one of the founding fathers" of the station.

"He helped to build this news-talk radio station into the force that it is today," Casey wrote. "He has had a successful career while, informing and entertaining listeners in Baltimore and worldwide."
