Lawmaker Sworn In As President Of National Black Caucus

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Sen. Catherine Pugh is being sworn in as the 11th president of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators.

Pugh, a Baltimore Democrat, is scheduled to be sworn in 6 p.m. Friday in Washington, by U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings.

Pugh said her focus during her two-year term will be on transparency and growth of the caucus, and advocacy for African American businesses and communities.
