Laurel Man, 25, Hit And Killed By Train

LAUREL, Md. (WJZ) -- A 25-year-old Prince George's County man was struck and killed by a train in Laurel early Monday, according to city officials.

The man was hit by a CSX train near the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Bowie Road about 12:45 a.m., a spokesperson for the City of Laurel said in a news release.

The victim's body has been taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore for an autopsy, the release said.

Officials say the 80-car train, which was heading from Baltimore to Philadelphia, was empty at the time of the crash. Train traffic returned to normal about 3 a.m.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
