The Search Is On For Owner Of Large Pig Found Wandering In Anne Arundel Co.
ANNE ARUNDEL CO., Md. (WJZ) -- A 600-pound pig was found in Anne Arundel County, and now the search is on for its owner.
Harold, as he has been temporarily nicknamed, was found wandering En-Tice-Ment Farms in Harwood, Md.
The 600-pound pig was first spotted Christmas Day. Where he came from- that's a mystery.
"I've been a pig farmer most of my life and we haev not seen many this size," said Deana Tice, En-Tice-Ment Farms.
Because of her expertise, Tice was called up the next day when word got out there was a massive pig at a farm up the road.
Getting Harold from one farm to the other was certainly no picnic. Animal Control had a tough time trying to rein the 600-pound porker in.
That's where the members of the Harwood 4-H Club came in.
"I was like, eh, you know it's probably going to be just this little small pig," said Cody Tice.
Deana's son Cody and fellow 4-Hers Kelsey and Kyle Winters spent about two hours trying to corral Harold.
"We kinda just dove in and tried to take over so it couldn't harm anybody else, but it ended up being a pretty nice pig," Kyle Winters said.
Now, the only thing Harold is going after are bread treats. And while housing somewhat of a local celebrity is fun, for this story to have a happy ending one of two things need to happen next.
"We're hopeful that we can find his owners and if that's not the case we'll send him to a nice sanctuary," Tice said.
