Lanham Woman Indicted On Murder Charge In Husband's Death

LANHAM, Md. (AP) -- A Lanham woman has been indicted on a murder charge after police say she intentionally ran over her husband with a sport utility vehicle.

Prince George's County authorities announced the indictment of 38-year-old Araceli Alvarez-Mendoza on Thursday. Prosecutors say Alvarez-Mendoza argued with her husband at their home on Aug. 23 and he left the home on foot.

Police say Alvarez-Mendoza followed her husband in the SUV and ran him over. He died at the scene.

Police said previously that Alvarez-Mendoza admitted her role in her husband's death. An attorney for Alvarez-Mendoza, Jason Ricke, said in an e-mailed statement that her attorneys are "working with Araceli's strongly supportive family and community members and we are confident that she will be exonerated of these charges."
