Kwanzaa Celebrations Begin In Baltimore Friday

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Kwanzaa begins Friday and several local groups have organized events around the holiday.

On Friday night, The Great Blacks In Wax Museum will hold Kasserian Ingera or How Are The Children? The program starts at 6 p.m. at 1601 East North Avenue.

While, The Reginald F. Lewis Museum at 830 E. Pratt Street will have a Kwanzaa celebration Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $5.

As a part of the festivities, there will be an African marketplace, dancing and drumming by Sankofa Dance Theater and music by the Uncle Devin Show.

Storytelling, crafts and community discussion on the Kwanzaa principle of Kujichagulia, or self-determination, will also be available to visitors.
