Keith Cavanaugh: "Pivotal Time For Terps Football"

Keith Cavanaugh with the Terrapin Times joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to give his take on Maryland's new head football coach, D.J. Durkin.

The former Michigan defensive coordinator met with local media earlier this morning; Scott asked Keith for his first impression of the new coach. "I think he said in one sentence 'blue collar, blue collar, blue collar' three times and that's what he's all about. He's a scrapper; a high energy guy."

One of the biggest keys to success in college athletics is recruiting; Keith talked about DJ's plans regarding recruiting, "Hopefully by the weekend he is going to announce a couple good hires from Tennessee, Auburn and Alabama in terms of assistants and coordinators who are all known for their recruiting prowess. So yeah, is there going to be some short term pain? Yes. Is there going to be some fallout over Mike Locksley leaving? Yes. You want to minimize that damage and get that staff get in here as soon as possible. You are at a pivotal time in the Maryland program. Talent deficiency and talent acquisition is what it's all about. The last several recruit classes have been kind of dry to say the least. So this one was a good one and a chance to get even better."
