Jury Acquits Man Charged With Trying To Rape 98-Year-Old Woman

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A man charged with trying to rape a 98-year-old woman has been found not guilty of that offense.

But a Baltimore County jury on Monday convicted 51-year-old Paul Earnest Howard Jr. of assault, burglary, theft and false imprisonment.

The Baltimore Sun reports (http://bsun.md/1aMaaNM) that prosecutors say on April 26, 2014, Howard went to the woman's home in Rodgers Forge and said he noticed a problem with her roof.

Authorities say Howard threw the woman to the ground, breaking her hip, and stole cash and blank checks from her.
