Josh Martin Talks NBA Finals And Kevin Durant

NBA Lead Writer for Bleacher Report Josh Martin joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to preview Game 1 of the NBA Finals and to talk about Kevin Durant's upcoming free agency.

Tonight is Game 1 of the NBA Finals rematch between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. Martin talked about the popular match-up; "I don't think anyone can really be disappointed when you have so much star power for both teams…it's a rematch that the vast-majority of basketball fans can be happy with and be riveted with watching."

Martin mentioned a player on each team that needs to step up during the Finals. "Harrison Barnes has had had a real up and down playoffs to the extent where he came off the bench for the second half of Game 6 and for all of Game 7 against Oklahoma City…Hopefully for the Warriors this lights a fire under Barnes. If [Iman Shumpert] can hit shots, if he can be a factor offensively, then that will give Ty Lue the ammunition he needs to put him out on the floor and let him be the defensive difference-maker that the Cavs need Shumpert to be."

Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder is set to become a highly sought-after free agent this offseason. Martin doesn't think he will be leaving the Thunder. "I think he goes back to Oklahoma City. I think it makes the most sense on a number of different levels. Personally, he has invested a lot of himself in the OKC community since he's been there. Professionally, I think that the Thunder, aside from maybe going to Golden State,  give Kevin Durant the best chance to compete for a championship next year and for years to come."
