Joe Flacco Will Start On Saturday Against The Lions

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It was rumored that Joe Flacco may not play during the preseason to further protect the quarterback before the 2016 season began, but ESPN is reporting that Flacco will take to the field this Saturday, the third preseason game, against the Detroit Lions.

Flacco told SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio that he will suit up Saturday against the Lions after sitting out the first two preseason games.

"I could have played in the first two preseason games...but you just kind of think: Is it worth it to get a total of three series when you're putting yourself at risk?" said Flacco.

Flacco performed well during practice and "felt great" working out with the team.

The Ravens had so much confidence in Flacco that a deal for the three-year extension, worth $66.4 million, with $40 million signing bonus, and $44 million in guaranteed money was made. Three years after the Ravens made him the league's highest-paid player in the league with a six-year, $120.6 million contract, Flacco is now the owner of the biggest signing bonus in league history.

Flacco's knee injury ended his streak of 122 consecutive starts, but this is a new year, a new team and a new field.

Are you excited to see Flacco back in action?
