Jay Bilas On The Expectations For Maryland Terrapins Basketball

Jay Bilas is a college basketball analyst for ESPN.

Jay joined Ed and Steve to talk about the Terps and their high expectations for this season.

Steve asked Jay about what went wrong for guard Rasheed Sulaimon at Duke before transferring to Maryland. Jay noted that Rasheed's problems stemmed from his work or lack thereof off the court, "I think sometimes guys get run over a bit. Duke brings in great talent every year. I think his problem, as I understood it, he wasn't as focused and dedicated to working on his game in the off-season. It wasn't that he wasn't talented enough."

Ed asked Jay about what Terps fans should expect from freshman center Diamond Stone. Jay believes Stone will have a smooth transition into the college game, "the good news for Diamond Stone is that he's walking into a veteran team so he doesn't have to step up right away. He doesn't have to feel the pressure of being the guy or the leader. Maryland has players at every position. They're legit."

Jay went on to discuss the current scandal unfolding at the University of Louisville, what should be expected from the Maryland men's basketball team this season and his work with the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation "College Season Tip Off."
