Is Baltimore's Accent Ugly?
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Looks like Baltimore and Boston are facing off again and it isn't sports-related.
It is, however, more about accents.
Gawker published a cheeky "America's Ugliest Accent" tournament Monday that puts the beautiful Bawlmere accent (seed 16) against that of Boston (seed 1) in Round 1. Also in round 1, Los Angeles faces Chicago.
As for why they believe Bawlmerese is an ugly accent -- we don't know, but they do point to our use of Hey 'Hon,' 'Ole' Bay and of course those 'Oh-ree-oles.'
People familiarized themselves with Bawlmerese because of 'The Wire' and they may affiliate celebrities like Duff Goldman and Brandon Novak to Bawlmerese.
Regardless, we should support Baltimore by voting for Boston's ugly accent here.
