Investigation Continues Into Patient Death At Baltimore's VA Hospital

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore VA Medical Center says the death of a veteran in the hospital's care is under investigation.

Hospital spokeswoman Rosalia Scalia said Tuesday that the veteran died Saturday morning after he had been acting agitated and excited in the lobby. She says VA police officers who had been questioning the veteran took him to the emergency room when he suddenly became limp and lethargic.

He died about 40 minutes later. His cause of death is unclear and under investigation.

The veteran's name and age was not immediately released Tuesday.

Scalia says the VA officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, per standard procedure.
