Investigation Continues Into Death Of Baltimore Rapper Lor Scoota

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A citywide manhunt continues into the death of Baltimore rapper Lor Scoota, who was shot and killed in the middle of a busy intersection in Northeast Baltimore Saturday.

WJZ's Rick Ritter reports he was targeted as he left an event at Morgan State University, and the killer escaped.

Police are taking a new, social media-focused approach with the killing of the 23-year-old. They want anyone who was at the charity basketball game Lor Scoota attended the night he was murdered to send them any Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat photos taken there.

"You don't know what one picture might hide in the background," says Detective Jonathan Jones, of the Baltimore Police Department.

Police are attributing this approach to Lor Scoota's social media fame.

Investigators have not released a motive in this shooting but they say it's likely the killer had help.

WJZ's Marcus Washington reports the local rap scene is reeling after Scoota's murder.

Although condolences have also been sent from national names like Meek Mill and The Game, locals are the ones really morning the young talent's death.

A huge crowd gathered Monday night to celebrate his career and life.
