Inmate Found With Loaded Gun At D.C. Courthouse

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Marshals Service says an inmate was brought to District of Columbia Superior Court with a loaded handgun in his underpants.

David Neumann, a spokesman for the Marshals Service, says the security breach was discovered Tuesday morning during a pat down as the 19-year-old prisoner was arriving for an initial court appearance. Neumann says the suspect was brought to the court by D.C. police.

Neumann identified the suspect as Isiah Bogan. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

In a statement, D.C. police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump says the man had been in the custody of three different agencies. She says it is unknown when or where the weapon came into the suspect's possession. Crump says the incident is under investigation.
