Icy Conditions Contribute To Fatal Crash In Western Md.

GRANTSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- State police say icy conditions were a factor in a crash that killed a woman on Interstate 68 in western Maryland.

The crash occurred on Saturday afternoon in Grantsville. Police say 35-year-old Jonnille Morrissey of Lonaconing lost control of her sport-utility vehicle because of freezing rain that made the road slippery.

The vehicle went into a grass median and hit a guardrail before it overturned.

Morrissey was thrown from the vehicle along with one of her two passengers. She died at the scene. The passengers were taken to a hospital for treatment.
