Bus Of College Students Catches Fire Along I-95 S In Howard Co.

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Forty people were reportedly evaluated by first responders after a bus caught on fire on I-95 prior to Route 100 in Elkridge, according to Howard County Fire and EMS.

The bus was transporting about 40 students from a community college in Virginia when it caught fire around 5 p.m. Saturday evening.

The bus had severe damage from the fire, however everyone on the bus managed to make it off safely.

Investigators say there were no reports of injuries after the passengers were evaluated for smoke inhalation.

Traffic along I-95 was impacted for some time, as Maryland State Highway Administration closed southbound right lanes. I-95 is now back open.

There has been no further information on the cause of the fire.
