Danny Weakens, Downgraded To A Tropical Storm

MIAMI (AP/WJZ) -- Hurricane Danny has weakened from a Category 1  storm to a Tropical Storm on Saturday night.

The storms's maximum sustained winds are 65 miles an hour. It is moving to the west-northwest at 14 miles an hour.

Category determination is made by the National Hurricane Center.

Danny doesn't currently pose a threat to land, but the hurricane center says those in the Leeward Islands should monitor its progress as it approaches that region.

"Tropical Storm Danny will bring some much needed rain to places like Puerto Rico by early next week. Eastern Puerto Rico is currently under "Extreme Drought," said Meteorologist Chelsea Ingram.
