Hundreds Attend Memorial Service For Girl Killed in School

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Friends and loved ones gathered to pay tribute to a Wilmington teenager who died after being attacked inside a bathroom in her own school.

Hundreds attended the memorial service for 16-year-old Amy Joyner-Francis, held Sunday at St. Paul UAME Church in Wilmington. Joyner-Francis died April 21 after a fight in a restroom at Howard High School of Technology.

Charles Sullivan, who says he has known Joyner-Francis' family for years, said classmates of Joyner-Francis told memories of her inside the packed church.

In a card handed out to attendees, Joyner-Francis's mother described her as "extremely beautiful, so very thoughtful, awesomely intelligent, very, very talented and definitely one of a kind."

No charges have been filed in the assault. Wilmington Police Chief Bobby Cummings said Friday that investigators still have a lot of information to review.
