Human Trials Of Zika Vaccine Could Begin This Fall

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Initial human trials of a Zika virus vaccine could begin as early as this fall.

According to our media partner, the Baltimore Sun, a new Baltimore-based vaccine development firm is joining the effort to find a way to prevent the virus.

Zika has been linked to microephaly, a disorder that stunts the growth of fetal brains and heads in infected pregnant women.

There are now 12 travel-associated cases of the Zika virus in Maryland.
