Howard County Policeman Charged With DUI, Leaving Scene

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) -- A Howard County police corporal has been charged with driving under the influence and other counts after an injured driver snapped a cellphone picture of his license plate before authorities say the corporal fled an accident.

Maryland State Police arrested Cpl. Corey Britton at his Upper Marlboro home Tuesday night.

State Police spokesman Sgt. Marc Black says Britton left the scene of an accident in Kettering. He says another driver, who was injured in the crash, took a picture of Britton's plate before Britton drove away.

The injured driver, 54-year-old Deborah McKinney of Largo, told investigators that she was rear-ended by a driver who seemed unstable on his feet.

Britton has been placed on administrative duty pending the results of the investigation. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
