Howard County Police Officer Injured In 3-Vehicle Crash

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- Police are investigating a three vehicle crash involving an officer in Howard County.

It happened around 11 a.m. Friday on the right shoulder of Route 100 westbound, just prior to Snowden River Parkway.

Police say Pfc. Joseph Gallina, 45, was conducting a traffic stop on a Volkswagen Jetta when a Cadillac Escalade left the roadway and struck the rear of his patrol car, pushing it into the Volkswagen.

Gallina, a 22-year veteran of the department, was treated and released from the hospital.

The driver of the Cadillac, 31-year-old Rodney Harris, of Baltimore, is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen, 31-year-old Daniel Wilson, of Linthicum Heights, was not injured.

The patrol car's emergency lights were activated prior to the crash, police say.

Charges have not been filed.
