Houston Nutt On The Hiring Of DJ Durkin And The College Football Playoff

Houston Nutt is a former college football coach for Boise St, Arkansas, and Ole Miss.

Houston joined Ed and Steve to talk about Maryland's new head football coach in Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin.

Steve asked Houston about D.J. Durkin's relationship with his players over the years. Houston noted that Durkin has been known to be very well received by his players, "the thing about an 18 or 19 year old is you can't fool them. He's a genuine guy and his players love playing for him. His players would run through a wall for him."

Ed asked Houston about the rumors of Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher leaving for an SEC school. Houston doesn't think this is much of a possibility, "I can't see him going to the SEC. I think he's in an ideal situation. It has been proven he can win a national championship where he is. I wouldn't move on so quickly from Florida State."

Houston went on to discuss the future of Mike Locksley at Maryland, preview of the UNC vs. Clemson game on Saturday for the ACC Championship, and his predictions for who will play in the college football playoff.
