House Fire Displaces More Than 12 In Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) -- More than a dozen people have been displaced after a fire burned three levels of a townhouse in Gaithersburg.

Montgomery County fire officials say the fire apparently began Saturday evening in the basement of a home on Silver Kettle Court. Fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says adjoining townhouses were evacuated during the blaze.

Piringer says three families with several children were displaced.

A resident and a firefighter were injured in the blaze, but their injuries were not life-threatening.

It took about 100 firefighters to get the fire under control.
