Hotel Staff Alerts Police To Human Trafficking Case

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WJZ) -- Howard County police have charged an Elkton man with human trafficking after they investigated a tip from staff at an Ellicott City hotel.

Police say Berris Munroe was trafficking a 21-year-old woman and advertising her as a prostitute on the website Backpage.

Police say he took money from the woman after he arranged for her to have sex with various men. Detectives are helping the woman return home to New York.

Munroe was arrested and released on $15,000 bond.
