Home Invader Sexually Assaults Elderly Woman, Steals Her Car

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Police are searching for a man who they say sexually assaulted and robbed a 71-year-old woman in her Baltimore home early Saturday morning.

It happened in the 5300 block of Beaufort Avenue around 2:30 a.m.

The woman woke up when she felt someone touching her. She told police she saw a black man dressed in black clothing and a mask, armed with a knife.

He took cash, jewelry and other items before sexually assaulting her and taking her car keys.

A short time later, the suspect was involved in a major accident in the victim's car.

A witness helped the suspect out of the car and he left the scene before police could arrive.

Mobile crime lab units were able to collect physical evidence from the accident scene.

The crime scene in this case is about a mile away from another violent home invasion involving an elderly woman, which occurred on May 4.

The victim in that case, 90-year-old Mary Hines, died last week.
